Jean-Eddy Jean-Baptiste

– Born on July 19, 2009

Jean-Eddy has been with us since September 2010

We first met Jean-Eddy during a medical clinic in a 'tent city'. After having examined him, the doctor determined that he would die within 2 or 3 days because of severe malnutrition.

Since his 19-year-old mother wasn't able to provide and care for him, the social worker from the hospital asked us to take him in and insure his care.

The hospital that took care of him informed us that he had AIDS, tuberculosis and cerebral palsy. After a few months of eating properly and receiving the medicine he needed, Jean-Eddy started gaining weight and even began smiling at us.

Through the years, Jean-Eddy has thrived and developped in leaps and bounds, which makes us very happy. He is a smiley boy, full of love for the others. He is our ray of sunshine.

Jean-Eddy now goes to school with the other 3 to 5 year-olds. The group is a bit advanced for him, but he is happy to be a part of it and understands what is going on. We'd like to find somebody more specialized to work with him next year, somebody that could help him develop physically and better his language skills.

Jean-Eddy communicates with us through sounds, knows a few words knows his colors, shapes, animals, etc. He also does physiotherapy, interacts with the other children, learns to read, write and do basic math.

His favorite color is red.
